Tyler himself eventually addressed the rumors, tweeting that he was “not dead” and thanking his fans for their support.

While it’s unclear who started the hoax or why it’s clear that Tyler’s fans are some of the most loyal and dedicated around.

In a series of tweets on Tuesday, Tyler addressed the hoax, which claimed that he had died in a car accident. “I’m still here,” Tyler tweeted. “I’m flattered.”

While Tyler may be taking the hoax in stride, it’s possible that the false reports took a toll on him emotionally.

In the days after the hoax circulated, Tyler canceled a show in Boston and canceled an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

At the time, it was unclear if Tyler’s cancellations were due to the hoax or if he was simply taking some time off.

However, in his tweets on Tuesday, Tyler implied that the hoax may have affected him more than he let on. “I almost had a heart attack,” Tyler tweeted. “I’m not gonna lie.”
