Afeni Shakur’s Struggle
In her life, Afeni Shakur struggled. Afeni is a Black Panther and activist who fought for the rights of black people in America. She was pregnant with Tupac when she got arrested, which led to her son being raised by her sister until he turned 16 years old.
She had been suffering from cancer after it spread all around her body and eventually led to death on May 26th, 2016 at 69-years-old despite getting treatment thrice annually since 1993.

Afeni Shakur struggled throughout most parts of his life but continued fighting for what she believed in which made him stronger than ever.
Work for Black Panther Party
In the late 1960s, Shakur and her husband were both in prison for a robbery. There, she met members of the Black Panther Party (BPP). The group had impressed her with their “strong principles” and made an impression on Afeni.
In 1970, she was released from jail when one of the charges against her was dropped after two years. She then became active in BPP activities by feeding members during breakfast meetings or providing transportation to rallies where they would give speeches about police brutality or other political topics.
It is also said that it was because of these actions that she ended up being arrested again but this time sentenced to three years in federal prison for violating parole restrictions—something she felt strongly remorseful about later.
